Visit Owensboro, in partnership with Baird Private Wealth Management, is excited to announce that tickets for the bourbon tasting portion of BBQ and Barrels will be on sale at 10:00 a.m. central time on February 28. VIP tickets are $120 and general admission tickets are $70 for the May 10th distillery sampling event. VIP tickets include special pours and BBQ samples. A companion ticket is also being sold for $20 that doesn’t include sampling bourbon.
Tickets for the dinner/cocktail pairing at Green River Distilling Company are also on sale at $145 a person, happening on May 9. Very limited tickets for the new high-end dinner/bourbon pairing at Lure Seafood and Grille called “Smoke and Oak,” set to take place on Thursday, May 8, are also now on sale and can be booked directly by calling Lure at (270) 240-4556.
“I anticipate we’ll end up with a new record of over 40 distilleries by the time of the event with most distilleries returning from last year and a few new ones. It’s unbelievable, but more accurately a reflection of Owensboro’s strong bourbon heritage, that this many distilleries will be at BBQ and Barrels- and, the fact that you’ll also be able to purchase bottles directly from the distilleries is a huge bonus for attendees. Last year, we had attendees from 13 states including as far away as California and Texas. I can’t say thank you enough for the support from Baird Private Wealth Management to make this event happen” said Dave Kirk, Visit Owensboro.
The bourbon tasting portion of the event sponsored by Baird Private Wealth Management will start at 2 p.m. with educational sessions. At 3 p.m., VIP will start, and from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. is the general admission session. The educational session tickets will be announced and go on sale at a later date.
“I’ve been amazed at the appetite for this event, both CONSUMER and DISTILLERY based. In its third year, it continues to grow and shows how much potential there is for BBQ & Barrels to become a national magnet lifestyle event. I’m also excited to announce that Freddie Johnson, Buffalo Trace Distillery VIP Visitor Lead, will be in attendance and lead one of the bourbon classes,” said Seth Thompson, The Bourbon Review.
“One of the most exciting things for us is the diversity that this mix of both small and large distilleries bring. You’ll get to try local favorites like Green River Distilling Company. You’ll even get to taste some things that you will not see readily available on store shelves like single barrel picks and allocated bottles,” added Kirk.
